In all frankness, when I think about the tons of statues devoted to superheroes and available on market, I can not help but wonder why there are so few pieces devoted to the Fantastic Four! Undoubtedly, this group represents the origin of the whole Marvel Universe and, for all the years of the incomparable Silver Age, it was also one of the most successful Comics series, due to the perfect collaboration of Stan Lee and Jack The King Kirby. And yet, except for the beautiful, small diorama produced by Sideshow and some pieces just released by Bowen Design, the number of collectibles dedicated to Reed, Sue, Johnny and Ben is really limited and, in most cases (and in my humble opinion), their design and sculpt is not fully worthy of the appeal and majesty of those stunning characters! For this reason, my collection includes very few pieces of the famous quartet and, among these, the clear version of the Invisible Woman, recovered some years ago at a very cheap price on the ebay international network. The statue was sculpted by Tony McVey and released by Bowen in 2000, with an edition size of 3000 samples. Sue Storm shows a slightly dynamic pose: the legs mimic a step forward and both arms are bent, as if the heroine were creating one of her psionic fields of invisible force. The whole figure is made of a trasparent resin and the physique is slender and well proportioned; the sculpt is well done and it is possible to distinguish the folds of the costume on chest, where the famous logo of the Fantastic Four stands out, carved in relief. In spite of the transparency, the facial traits are sharp amd clear, quite faithful to the table of Comics, with a rather long hair (combed in a perfect 60s style) and a very slim neck. The base is very simple and shows an hexagonal shape with which the piece can be eventually linked to the other members of the team. In conclusion, a nice statue to enrich your Marvel statues collection.
